This little hike will take you
between lake and "mountain" (385 meters...), through nice landscapes
near St Cadou. An
important production of rustic slates,
also called moutain slates, took place in the neigborhood of St Cadou, St Rivoal and Commana
(see also the Blue
Stone and the Mougau
hike). If the roofs of
most old local country houses, including our B&B and
our
Weaver House dating back to the 17th century, are still covered with
thoses slates, nearly all of these quarries are now disused. Be however
careful when exploring these old open sky quarries: they can be quit
dangerous, especially on rainy days as they will be slippery, filled
with water and rocks may slide. This
tour can also
be reach by foot directly from our Bed and Breakast, taking the Drennec
Lake hike, or by car in 5 minutes.
