·¹ Poulpiken (or
Poulpikan) : the names of these Goblins came because they like to dig
(pikañ) in the ponds (poul). They use to ring a little bell
in
the hide, to mislead the little shepherds. The Poulpikans who migrated
to Higher Brittany (our bed and breakfast is situated in Lower
Brittany, the Celtic Brittany) are little red chaps.
·²
Korrik
:
from
"korr", dwarf. Literally "little dwarf". In the Finistere area
and
the Morbihan, synonym of korrigan (goblin of Brittany)
·³
Lutik
:
little
goblin of the fountains and the forests, fine, supple and pretty, very
well adapted to the life with humans, appears and disappears as it
wishes, stands by to some chosen ones their whole life.
These description of the Goblins living in the wild moor of
the Monts d
Arre have been extracted and freely translated from the book "Vie et Moeurs des lutins bretons"
(Life and habits of the breton goblins), by Francoise Morvan,
editor Actes Sud, 1998. |
